Building A Crew?

March 3, 2008

Do you understand the importance of building a crew? How do you build one and with whom? In the world– and in internet marketing and blogging specifically, “He who builds the strongest and tightest crew wins.”

Full time income from the net is difficult. Having a group of people, a crew, to further the goals of each individual is imperative. Look at Courtney Tuttle for example. Who seems to be his crew? A couple of people are. Go see if you can tell who he works and hangs with.

If have you been going at it alone in your online efforts, you are missing some great opportunities and leaving money on the table, period. Every top tier marketer works with and has built friendships with other top internet professionals. Look through your emails or go to their websites and see who they are talking about.

I don’t have to tell you that they work and play together, it’s a fact. Why? By doing so, they are leveraging some of the best tactics to keep you coming back to read their blogs and eventually get you to buy.

They are creating a life centered around their business, which then becomes their life. This is done by referring and recommending to each other after they have become friends and built up trust and respect for each other.

If you don’t already have a tight knit crew of your own, you don’t have social approval. Peer approval does so many things for your business that it is necessary to create. But doing this can be much like trying to get a credit card when you don’t have credit. So what do you do? You build a crew piece by piece, little by little.

I am trying to drive home the importance of building and maintaining a group of people who you might consider “your crew.” This is typically between five and ten people at it’s center, and the numbers get larger as you get further out in the group. This is a sphere of influence and you have to have a small inner circle to get all the benefits that go with a large group of followers. This applies to “people driven market;” those who have influence are at the center of their market or field.

Remember this: It’s not what you know, it’s not even who you know, but what you do with both. What you know is important, who you know is also important, but how you fuse these two pieces and leverage that is key.

Also, keep in mind that the “upper crust” of your market were not born with the rights to control that particular market. It took them work to get there, but the rewards were worth it. This strategy, if implemented well, can take you from just screwing around on the internet to making a sweet income and everything that comes with it. All that for making some friends? If you have enough talent and interest in your chosen field, then yes, all of the other stuff will fall into place and it does so even faster when you are connected with other people. We all have our own skills to add to the crew so everyone gets to the top.
