Courtney Tuttle. The Man, The Myth, The Legend
March 26, 2008
In the spotlight this week is one of my favorite bloggers and internet marketers, Courtney Tuttle.
Don’t worry, this isn’t your typical ass kissing interview, this is a look at Court from a different angle.
I am doing a series within a series with Court where we will be creating an ongoing interview, if you will.
The point of this is to find a benchmark and follow along in an unorthodox way. By follow along I mean
just that, I will follow along and pry out of him the “what” and “how” he builds his business. Now don’t get me
wrong, Courtney discloses so much on his blog Courtneytuttle.com that you can literally start an online
endeavor his advice and not looking for it elsewhere.
However, I like to figure out what goes on behind the scenes how a “project” came together from idea
conception through to a via business.
So here is where we start - I should warn you that I have been
reading his blog for a long time and know more than I should because I read between the lines.
This will undoubtedly be one hell of a series.
This is one of his man Projects that he partners with Vic on.
Lets get to it. Court started his blog “CourtneyTuttle.com” in February 2007. If you don’t know much about
him go to his site and grab his feed, if you have read this far into this post I assume you are interested in
utilizing the internet to further your business. If that’s the case you will need what he has to offer.
Interview Time.
Landon
1. With all of the projects you have going how much time do you work on
courtneytuttle.com during a regular week?
Court
That actually varies wildly week to week. I would say that I probably spend about 15 hours per week
working on the site, but some weeks I spend a lot more and some weeks I spend a lot less.
Landon
2. What is your favorite aspect of internet marketing? Is it the teaching?
The actual marketing, site building etc?
Court
My favorite aspect is conversion. I really like tweaking my sites to get better conversion on Adsense,
affiliate links, and also conversion to RSS in the case of CourtneyTuttle.com.
Landon
3. How many “partners” do you have projects going with?
Court
I have Vic who is my partner on BloggingZoom, and then two other partners who are helping me
with another project.
Landon
4. What is your goal for 2008? Any big things coming out this year?
Court
I have some very big things coming out this year, but I’m not ready to release that information yet.
Watch for some products that will better help people to understand the overall process on making
money with the internet.
Landon
5. When you approach someone for the first time like you did with Vic, how do
you get them to partner with you? What is the first thing you do?
Court
Actually I didn’t approach Vic, Vic approached me. In the case of BloggingZoom, there were two
things that made me want to work with Vic. First, Vic knew what he was doing on his own. He is
an expert himself at making money online. Second, Vic had a great idea that I wanted to be a part of.
Usually when people approach me, they want to rehash an idea, which is why I have to turn most
of them down.
With my other partners, we knew each other in real life because we lived in the same city.
We figured out one day that we could do something amazing if we all got together. We all
have very unique skill sets that combine to make an incredible team. I don’t think it was really
a tough decision for any of us.
Landon
6. How much time do you spend with BloggingZoom as far as managing it if any?
Court
I spend a lot of time marketing BloggingZoom but it’s hard to say exactly how much.
Vic manages the site – he’s more proficient as a programmer than I am.
Landon
7. Who do you see making a big splash in the blog/IM arena for 2008? Who do you have your eyes on?
Court
Right now I see 2008 as the year that some of the mid-level bloggers will get bigger and better
projects going. I think you’re going to see people like Andy Beard, Caroline Middlebrook, and Mark
from 45n5 get more popular.
Landon
8. Who are the top 3 bloggers you follow? It seems that you reference Steve
Pavlina regularly but who how else do you follow?
Court
I regularly read DoshDosh.com, Problogger.net, and CopyBlogger.com. While I think Steve Pavlina
has a great site, he isn’t a daily or even weekly read for me.
Landon
9. What would an unknown need to do to get the chance of partnering with you
on a project?
Court
He/she would have to have a really good idea for a project, one that I haven’t already thought of
myself. Also, I would need to see evidence that they have already accomplished things on their
own. I get approached by quite a few people who are only asking me because they don’t have
the skill set and/or confidence to do the project on their own. I’m interested in partnering on projects
that I think will make it with or without me.
Landon
10. What is your ficus on when you first sit down at the computer for the day?
Court
My first focus is to plan out my priorities for the day. I usually have quite a bit to do so I have to
decide which items are the most important.
Landon
11. Thats a good one, do you have a set outline of things to go through every
day and can you share that?
Court
Yes…
Gotta love that, set up for the next interview. Courtney Tuttle. The Man, The Myth, The Legend.

Landon, thats a damn good interview with one of the finest men you will find in this business. I admire him , respect his knowledge and frankly want to grow up to be just like him. I frankly don’t know if I would have site of it wasn’t for his guidance in the early stages of my site. Just a classy gentleman.
Back in the days when I was “paying tuition” he gave me a free education.
I agree, Court is the man! Its interesting to me in our little online world… the same few people keep coming up, topic after topic, post after post.
You ought to give your self some credit though, you are also one of the finest men I have met.
Yes Don, I read people well. I take the time to read between the lines, we are all different but the core values we “should” use feel the same when you listen well.
Thanks for noticing the interview.
Court is the man….love his blog and he’s one of a very, very select few that I pay attention to rather than just skimming. If any of the mid level bloggers have a chance to be the next whatever, it’s Court.
Bill, dead on. I think Court provides more info on “how to…” than even the upper level bloggers do, I mean they do give solid info but Court tells you how to do the task not just ideas of how to…
[…] met Vic Franqui @ Blogger Unleashed through Blogging Zoom, oddly he and Court own Blogging Zoom. He evaluated my site one day while talking on Skype. That wasn’t a fun day for […]
