Who The Hell Are You?!?
March 14, 2008

In the last couple of days I have been analyzing the avatars I see on other peoples blogs and at least 9 times out of 10 I’m thinking to myself, who the hell are you?!?
You took the time to make a blog. You took the time to create a mybloglog account. You take the time to read other peoples blogs. And you take the time to be an active blog owner. And you don’t take the time to be recognizable? Nice job keeping your blog a secret!
Your blog is www,_______.com and your name is John (just an example), What the hell are you doing branding a picture of a spider?!!!!?
Did I miss something? Your blog is about online business, your name is John. And spiders are not mentioned anywhere on your blog. Um thats like Nike representing its self on the web with a picture of a table cloth and using the nickname rocket???
I must have missed something, you don’t have another blog in your mybloglog account and there is nothing that ties “Spider” or your picture to your blog. ???
Oh, I get it! Your trying to keep people from recognizing you and your blog! I wasn’t under the impression that is was cool to have a “secret blog” that no one knew about. And when I see a regular picture with some unrelated name attached to it I will never remember it or you and I can almost guarantee that it wont make enough of an impression for me to click through to your site. You are totally keeping that a secret! How could I not understand that!
Oh thats not what your trying to do? Fooled me!

I kinda like my red M , it’s everywhere and it gives me a measure of a brand, but Ill give it some thought
Hey Don, I agree, it is everywhere and that is part of your brand. When you tie your picture, a picture of you to it, it will begin to add to your personal brand. Your “M” is out there, but what comes to mind when people think about you, what picture do they see in their mind when they think or talk about Don? Your “M” brand should add to that, not be it.
